Nourishing Tahini Bites
Tahini, made from ground sesame seeds, is a powerhouse of nutrients, offering healthy fats, calcium, and protein. In Ayurveda, sesame seeds are known for their warming and nourishing qualities, making tahini a great choice—especially in moderation. It strengthens tissues, supports digestion, and provides sustained energy.
However, because tahini is rich and slightly heating, it’s best balanced with spices and eaten in small amounts. These Tahini Bliss Bites are lightly sweet, satisfying, and perfect for a grounding yet energising treat, and they’re perfect for bringing to social gatherings.
Serving – makes 10 balls
Ingredients
¼ cup ground whole wheat flour (add more if needed for soft dough)
¼ cup ground cashews or macadamias
¼ tsp cardamom powder
¼ tsp cinnamon powder
1 Tbsp tahini
1 Tbsp jaggery
2 tsp ghee
1 tsp sweet almond oil
⅛ cup warm water
Optional
2 tsp maple syrup
splash of honey (once the drink has cooled as honey becomes toxic when cooked)
raw carob powder
medjool date chutney
Method
In a bowl, mix the whole wheat flour, ground cashews, cardamom, and cinnamon.
In a separate small bowl, dissolve the jaggery in warm water.
Stir in the tahini and ghee until well combined.
Add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until a soft, slightly moist dough forms.
Shape into 8 small balls and flatten slightly.
Bake at 180°C for about 6-7 minutes. Be careful not to overcook them as they will dry out and they should stay soft after cooling.
Dosha Adaptation Guide
VATA – Ideal for Vata, providing warmth, moisture, and grounding. Increase ghee slightly for extra nourishment.
PITTA – Pitta types should eat these in moderation, as tahini is slightly heating. Reduce cardamom and add a touch of shredded coconut for cooling.
KAPHA – Kapha can enjoy these occasionally but should reduce ghee and tahini slightly. Adding a pinch of ginger or black pepper can help balance heaviness.
